Only an hour on the piano last evening. I threw some notes around and found a nice b minor like chord in a progression that I might like to use and wrote it down. Nothing in what I am working now sounds close to the typical. Nothing sounds close to my core musical style. Its [...]

Composing Status Update #44
Technical week, in every aspect of my life – from morning to evening. Between the database anomalies in the day gig which is stress city, the tuning of the music workstation, and this blog update (I updated WordPress this evening) to helping out some friends remotely with Teamviewer, its been quite a load.
Good news is we are [...]
Tuned up…almost ready to go
Vmware Fusion + VSL is about as good as I can get it. Pretty close to put down the hex calculator and pick up the writing pencil. Will start cleaning up this test template as the main score template for summer work. Thats about a days work.
Worked on getting LinuxSampler up an [...]
Stripping the Gear
Hello. ComposerBastard here…
Got the RMA’s out the door, and returned two drives back to the store. Turned around and yes – got the Altiverb ona download. Receiving DP in a few days – competitive upgrade. New high speed RAID drives today. That should about do it with the exception [...]
Bootslowmonstors go byebye
In my preparation for returning some drives to the store, I removed them from my case last evening. I had these two drives on RAID 0, so I re-partitioned and erased the contents. Once I took them out and restarted the DAW, the slow boot went away. I have no idea why.
New [...]
Mysterious Bootslowmonsters
Strange boot slowness just before the login display happening, and the puzzle is obsessive / compusive…a tick in ComposerBastard’s noggin’ engine. The call to fix cannot be dropped. For a reason yet to be explained, there is around minute or so delay just before login. The logs are not much help, [...]
The Upgrade Continuo
More weekend pruning and burning.
Got the alternative sata card in without a glitch. Works great. No risks with strange homebrew drivers.
Installed Logic – unfortunately all on the internal drive. I wanted some of these loops on other drives. Will have to figure a way to move it off. Easier for [...]
Composing Status Update #41
Technica Musica. Getting closer as I refit and refresh the studio in a spring cleaning rush before summer. Plenty of work left to do on both sides of the fence – composing and engineering. Memory upgrade is in and humming along. Working the SATA card situation now. The Seritek 2SE2-E’s [...]
